The deaf artist, Gabriel 'Uji' Rodriguez, was born in Bellingham, Washington, on December 29, 1983.  He was raised using sign language as a primary form of communication, growing up in a hearing society.  Rodriguez was home schooled until he enter public high school.  He graduated from Sehome High School, Bellingham, WA in the spring of 2002 and immediately attended Western Washington University/Fairhaven College in the fall.  He graduated from Western Spring 2007. Rodriguez has a natural talent for drawing, painting, photography, film-making and animation.  He finds inspiration through film, photography, video games, graphic design, history and different cultures, shaping his visual style.  His achievements include an article in the local paper, various recognitions and awards, including a scholarship to Western.  His most recent accomplishment was recognition as a student Scholar.  His aspirations after college are to become a director, photographer, animator, or graphic designer.  Rodriguez’s portfolio can be viewed at: http://home.comcast.net/~wasabi.boy.
