Daemen College is a private nonsectarian coeducational liberal arts college located in Amherst, a suburb north of Buffalo, New York. Daemen enrolls over 2300 students. There are over 47 baccalaureate level majors/tracks leading to a B.A., B.S., or B.F.A. Daemen also offers nine post-baccalaureate and two post-master’s certificates, four master’s degrees, and a clinical doctorate in physical therapy (DPT).
Daemen’s core undergraduate curriculum begins with a theme-based, interdisciplinary first-year experience course. Nearly half of Daemen’s courses are taught in a learning community format. Service-learning is a core requirement for undergraduate students. In 2008, Daemen was one of 119 U.S. colleges and universities selected for the 2008 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification.
The Center for Sustainable Communities and Civic Engagement (CSCCE) partners Daemen faculty and students with three urban neighborhoods. The Student-Faculty Interdisciplinary Research Think Tank (SRT) works to support joint student-faculty research projects in sustainable communities, civic engagement, and historical and cultural preservation.
