I am: We are
by Danielle Crawford

I am and I am surrounded
By beauty and waste
By hope and haste

I am and I am wounded
But I have hints of eternity
But I have visions of sur-reality

I am and I am America
Grateful am I for the opportunity of this land In the midst of hardship I,ll hold your hand

I am and I am content
Amidst the bitter rain
Amidst the torturous pain

Hope can it bring
And that is the song
I choose and I choose to sing

Mad sparks and unchained infernos
Of rebellion, fear, fame, rage
Go back to your cage
That threatens our Souls

The color of my country is red
As the blood of my ancestry
As the heart beating in me

Today is the day
Now is the time

If we unite
Fear will hide
If we hope
Hate will die

I am and I am surrounded
I am and I am wounded
I am and I am America
I am and I am content
I am and I am as are we.
