A Consequence
by Amber S. Meadows
Hurt sails the seas
Disguised in short skirts and colorful smiles;
Something is said to stop the phoniness of it all.
Silence invades a room once filled with laughter
Wearing a fiery coat of anger;
Whispering, “A trust has been broken.”
Loneliness deteriorates a favorite hangout spot.
Clothed in the grey of stubbornness,
Taking with it the joy from seasons of friendship passed.
Pride rules the halls
Decked out in a heavy overcoat and long pants;
Securing itself from the possibility of being affected.
Pain rips apart floors in a tall building.
Wrapped in a black frock;
Demolishing the many floors which once represented good times.
Friendship leaps from the roof of the tall building
Dressed in tears.
A secret is revealed.
