Artists’ statement: “This mural was created in the course “Community Mural Painting” and is the product of collaboration between Daemen College students enrolled in this course and Grover Cleveland High School international students.  The imagery for this mural was drawn from dialogue between Daemen students and Grover students about how the Grover students saw their community and what dreams they have for themselves and for their community.  Through this dialogue Daemen students learned what it is like to work as a group to create a visual piece of art in response to specific community needs.  Daemen students and Grover students did the painting of this mural collaboratively.  This project is titled “International Community Mural”, and it is permanently displayed in the front entrance of Grover Cleveland High School.  This course was taught by Felice Koenig, Assistant Professor of Art at Daemen College.”
